What is Teslin?
Teslin is a synthetic material that prints and fabricates like paper, but is durable plastic like film. A microporous structure makes Teslin sheet absorptive yet water-resistant, soft, but strong, and highly printable and durable.
Teslin is a dimensionally stable, highly filled, single layer, microporous film. It is polyolefin-based with 60% of its weight comprised of non-abrasive filler and 65% of its volume comprised of air. The porous, uncoated nature of Teslin sheet allows inks, adhesives, coatings and laminating films to penetrate into its structure.
Why Teslin for ID cards?
Teslin sheets are ideally suited for ID cards as the preferred bulk print material for Drivers Licenses, & ID cards. Printing methods include color or monochrome Laser or Inkjet printers. Be sure to order the correct Teslin for your needs.
The Teslin sheet bonds with the laminate sheets to form a perfect edge seal, highly resistant to delamination.
Are there different thicknesses of Teslin?
Yes, Teslin is available in gauges from 7-14mil. 10mil is the most common gauge for ID Cards. Teslin sheets are ideally suited to our teslin sheet lamination pouches. Combined with 10mil laminating pouch or sheet to provide a 30mil finished gauge like a PVC ID card.
What size Teslin sheets are available?
Stock size for sheet Teslin are letter size teslin sheets 8.5” x 11” for Laser or Inkjet printers. Perforated Credit Card size letter size sheets (8 up per sheet) are also available for Laser or Inkjet Printers. A wide selection of teslin sheets are available for immediate delivery.
Larger size sheets are available for special order.
